Comparison

Let’s chat the pros and cons to social media for a bit. Seriously, can I go here for a second? I mean it’s a fun place for us to post pics, share what we are excited about, and check out what our friends are doing that we never get to see. However, there are some serious downfalls.

If you’re one who compares yourself to others social media “highlight reel” it’s a problem. If you stalk your friends facebook account just to know what they’re doing…yet never make a comment, call or text to really check in on your “friend”, it’s a problem. If you stalk someone’s Facebook just to find everything you can possibly find wrong with them, it’s a problem! If you spend your time on Facebook just to envy or hate…it REALLY is a problem.

Never judge or compare yourself to someone else. It can be seriously dangerous. Social media often makes things look effortless, glamorous, and even instantaneous. Especially with the ability to “edit” a picture in any way you want. Reality is that people are constantly showcasing the best aspects of their life onto social media.

You may “think” you know someone based on what you see on their social media account but the reality is, you probably don’t. You just see a post that documents one tiny piece of their day or week. There are 24 hours in a day and 7 days in a week!! That one minute post gives you just that! A minute of information. You don’t have a clue as to what going on during the other 59 minutes of their hour, much less their day!

Do YOUR thing. Do YOU. Don’t compare yourself with anyone except for the YOU that you’re working towards. REMEMBER, what you’re seeing is only a SMALL percentage of their life. You deserve to have your own joy, so don’t let the comparison of yourself to others rob you of it!
